Manush : In Sanskrit, manush means human; without distinction of race, sex, ethnicity, manush designates the universal human. There are, however, connotations attached to the word.The first reactions are always surprising and revealing. Manush-Gypsy-Rom. We are aware of this dissonance, of this moment of doubt, of suspension, but it is also in such "hiatuses" that it is possible to qualify our relationship with the Other, for a broader and richer vision of our common heritage. Mensch in German, Insaan in Turkish, Mirov in Kurdish, Binadamu in Swahili, Rénlei in Chinese, Bashri in Arabic, Moun in Creole... Our festival is intended to be an open meeting place, a place of welcome and gathering of human beings from different cultural and social backgrounds but representing the many faces of this Universal Human who is our Guest of Honor! Our artists are musicians, dancers, painters but if they have adopted forms of expression varied, it is to connect to a common source. From this source, we draw a set of values, which are sharing, solidarity, empathy, openness, curiosity, the desire to discover others and relate to them. We will pay particular attention to ensuring that, in the creative spaces as well as behind the scenes, our artists can meet, discuss on an equal footing and in wonderful conviviality.
